“Wanted’ pair sought in connection with politically-related murders in KZN

Sifiso Steven Mabaso and Sipho Khomba Mabaso are being sought for questioning related to politically-motivated murders

Two men are being sought by detectives that are investigating cases of politically-related murders in KwaZulu-Natal.
The pair, described by police as ‘wanted men’, are Sifiso Steven Mabaso (50) and Sipho Khomba Mabaso (37).

“It is alleged that on September 15, 2018 at 5.30pm, Jabulani Mazibuko (44) was travelling with a passenger on the R103 near Cornfields, when they were attacked. The assailants opened fire on their vehicle. Mazibuko was shot and fatally wounded whilst his passenger survived the attack. Mazibuko sustained gunshot wounds to the head and was declared dead at the scene,” explained police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker.

Murder and attempted murder charges were opened at the Estcourt police station.

Warrants of arrest have been issued by the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court and they are being sought by detectives.

“Detectives probing the case arrested two suspects for murder and attempted murder. They have made several court appearances and the case was remanded to October 11, 2019,” added Brigadier Naicker.
