Business owners’ power restored after shock cut-off
The owner of the building was traced to Newcastle.
Power was restored to businesses in the central business district this morning, after the municipality cut electricity due to a business owner failing to pay rates on his building.

The electricity was cut from Nando’s to Salon Dawn on Boundary Road, leaving about six businesses in the dark. Furious tenants said their rent was up to date, but the owner – who was traced to Newcastle – had run up an arrears account of more than R280 000.
The owner was informed of the situation and a payment made, after which the power was restored, much to the relief of business owners.
