St Dominics Newcastle learner excels at Eskom Expo

Megan Furter, from St Dominics Newcastle, took part in the Eskom Expo, which has held recently.

At the Eskom Expo ISF, which was held between September 24 to 27, St Dominics Newcastle learner, Megan Furter most certainly went out with a bang!

Megan won the FFS Refiners Award for “the student whose project best exemplifies practical application of mechanical engineering principles” and received an iPad valued at R5 500.

She also received a mind-blowing Eskom bursary for four years, to study towards an engineering degree valued at R 400 000!

At the final prize-giving on Friday, Megan was awarded a bronze medal.

St Dominics Newcastle offers robotics as an assessment-free subject, as part of Curro’s country-wide STEAM(D) focus. Through this focus, Curro schools have reached great achievements at Science and Robotics competitions.

Most recently, 18 of the 64 provincial teams that qualified for the upcoming National World Robot Olympiad are from Curro schools.
