During the last few weeks, Drakensview Primary School learners and educators have received awards for excellence.
12 Grade 6 and 7 learners took part in the Phendulani Literacy Quiz held at Bergville Primary School.

This is a quiz that aims to develop the literary knowledge and comprehension skills of learners through reading.
Five schools in the Uthukela District took part and Drakensview was placed second overall.

Two Grade 7 learners were recognised for their gold medal achievement at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists. Aarya Bhikraj and Priscilla Chipeta were presented with trophies and certificates at the recently held annual GET Excellence Awards Ceremony.

Their mentor, Mrs van Zuydam, was also presented with a certificate for her contribution to their success.

Drakensview took part in the ELITS Library Excellence Awards run by the Department of Education. As a result of adjudication done at the school during the year, our library, which is run by Mrs Jantes, was placed third in KwaZulu-Natal in the urban school section. Schools from 12 districts took part.

Drakensview is to be commended on their participation and success in these events, with congratulations to the learners and educators involved.
