The skull and bones of a human were discovered by security guards on December 30.

Estcourt police were alerted and were summoned to the railway line near Cornfields where the remains were found at 10:55am.

The deceased is unknown and the remains were in an advanced stage of decomposition. A post-mortem will be done to determine the cause of death.

Anyone who can assist with information, or if a relative is gone missing, is requested to go to the Estcourt police station or call 036-342-9520 or 036-342-9525 during office hours. The toll-free number is 08600 10111 and can be dialled to provide information in connection with this incident.
