‘Strange’ insect found at Ladysmith home

A Ladysmith homeowner recently spotted a “strange-looking” insect in her yard.

Intrigued, she took a photo and sent it to us.

We believe this insect to be a Shell Tortoise Leaf Beetle. You see how it resembles a tortoise? Are we correct?

The beetle was crawling on a plant when it grabbed the homeowner’s attention.
