Happy learners and parents on the first day at Drakensview

Learners settle in for the new year

The school year of 2020 began with excitement, some nerves and lots of fun.

Parents and family of the new Grade 1 learners looked on proudly as they were placed at their desks in the classrooms.

Some of the parents were reluctant to leave and spent time peeping through the classroom windows, watching their children settle down to some ‘hard work’ of colouring in.

In no time at all, everyone was busy. One Grade 1 class even proudly read the first page of a story to the photographer. It is hoped that these little people grow and learn, and stay in the education system for the next 12 years to develop into well-educated citizens of our country.

Throughout the classrooms, there was a buzz of happiness, with everyone indicating they were happy to be back at school. All the best to the learners, teachers and schools as a whole for a successful 2020.
