Woman swindled out of R3 200 at ATM

On her way to consult with her banking provider, she was notified of the withdrawal from her account.

A woman had R3 200 withdrawn from her account by swindlers, at an ATM near Shoprite on January 16.

According to police sources, the woman inserted her bank card into the ATM and punched in her pin. She was unable to transact however, and the card appeared to have been ‘swallowed’.

She left the area to consult with her banking provider. Before reaching the bank however, the woman received a notification that R3 200 had been withdrawn from her account at Spar.

The matter is subject to investigations. SAPS advised residents press the cancel button before leaving an ATM they were using.
