Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize said that two cable faults were found in the area.

“Due to the nature of the fault, we engaged a specialist cable fault location company to assist. The fault was a challenge for them as well. We managed to find both faults and repaired the one, hence electricity was restored. The cable in front of Hillside Shopping Centre in Hellet Road has deteriorated to such an extent that it needs to be replaced. We have submitted this to the Supply Chain Management Department to engage a contractor to install new cables and to repair the road surface,” explained Mr Mkhize.

Several locals took to social media to applaud the municipal electrical team, as well as businesses and individuals who worked tirelessly to find and repair the faults.
