We watch news reports about violent crimes on television just about every day, but never expect it to happen to us. But crime is all over these days and a local family went through the worst time of their lives when they were hit by a house robbery recently.
Police received a complaint of a house robbery in Chisty Place. On arrival, police found a traumatised woman frantically trying to help her 47-year-old husband, who had been shot.
The couple were asleep when the alarm went off. The husband got up to see what had set off the alarm and was suddenly confronted by suspects who were already in the bedroom.

The husband sustained injuries to the stomach.
The suspects stole jewellery and cash from the victims before fleeing the scene.
The injured couple were taken to hospital for urgent medical attention.
Ladysmith police are investigating cases of house robbery and attempted murder.
The SAPS are requesting members of the community to come forward with information that could help them trace and arrest the suspects.
