Madadeni tuck shop owner arrested for unlicensed revolver

He is due to appear in the Madadeni Magistrate's Court today (April 3).

A routine police patrol to ensure compliance with Covid-19 regulations, led to the arrest of a Madadeni tuck shop owner (28).

According to official information, Crime Prevention Unit members from Madadeni SAPS were conducting visibility patrols in the township area yesterday (April 2), and received information about a suspect in possession of a firearm at a certain shop in Madadeni.

SAPS members proceeded to the shop and conducted a search. A .38 caliber revolver loaded with three rounds of live ammunition was recovered. The tuck shop owner was subsequently arrested and is due to appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court today (April 3).

Investigations into the matter continue.
