Sarel Cilliers teachers roar with success at district awards

Teachers from Sarel Cilliers High School have been awarded for excellence in education.

“Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.”

Teachers who went beyond their call of duty to improve the standard of teaching, were acknowledged for their efforts in 2019 and were nominated within the Umzinyathi District in various categories.

Three of Sarel’s teachers came out tops for maintaining high standards of performance and ensuring the academic outcome for the year 2019 was met. This meant learners were prepared for success in tertiary education.

On March 6, these three teachers attended an awards ceremony hosted by the Umzinyathi District Department of Education, to award teachers for outstanding results obtained by learners in the 2019 National Senior Certificate examinations.

Sarel Cilliers High School received excellence certificates for achieving the most bachelors passes, for having the most learners pass, for ending second in the circuit with a 94,6 per cent pass rate (after Ebusi Combined School), plus excellence awards in Afrikaans (Ms de Lange), Tourism (Mrs Deysel) and Graphic Engineering and Design (Mr Slabbert).
