Elderly pedestrian injured in dramatic hit and run

SUV driver slams into four parked cars

An elderly man has been seriously injured after a dramatic hit and run on Smith Street, near Boxer Supermarket, this afternoon.

Witnesses said the driver of the NUM registered black SUV ran away after his car had jumped a red traffic light at the Smith/Victoria Streets intersection, hit the pedestrian and then slammed into a parked vehicle – resulting in  a domino effect that saw four other parked vehicles being damaged.

SAPS and paramedics were soon on the scene. No one was else was reportedly injured.

SAPS are looking for the driver of the black SUV. This section of Smith Street is currently closed while tow trucks clear away the carnage.
