The 47-year-old man who is alleged to have tried to kill his former girlfriend is now out on bail.
The suspect made a brief appearance in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Friday (June 26) and was granted bail of R1500.
The arrest was made on Wednesday last week.
According to police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi, a woman was asleep in her home in Steadville Area-J on Wednesday night, June 24, when her ex-boyfriend entered the house.

The man allegedly pulled out a firearm and pointed it at her head. One shot was fired in the woman’s direction, but the bullet missed her. The woman ran outside and locked the door behind her.
She then called the police, who responded and arrested the suspect.
