Municipal employee tests positive for Covid-19

"Endumeni Municipality places a high premium on the safety of employees,"

The Endumeni Municipality was closed on Friday after an employee tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

SB Mbhele, Municipal Manager, said the employee, who works in the main municipal building, was self isolating.

“All employees who were in close contact with the employee in question have been referred for testing and have been advised to self-isolate in line with the laid down guidelines. The Health Department and National Institute for Communicable Diseases have been informed,” Mr Mbhele said.

Employees will be advised on Monday once the Municipal Manager has determined when it would be safe to return to work after having following the protocols to have the building disinfected.

“Endumeni Municipality places a high premium on the safety of employees, service providers and the community at large – hence we have taken these steps – including steps to ensure that there is minimal disruption to service delivery.”
