Residents live in fear after fatal shooting in KwaMthandi area

9mm cartridges were found inside and outside the bakkie

KwaMthandi residents are now living in fear following a shooting in the area yesterday (July 19) that claimed the life of a 49-year-old man.

The victim, who was driving a white Isuzu KB bakkie, was fatally shot inside his vehicle and was declared dead at the scene.

According to Ladysmith police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi, Ladysmith police are investigating a murder case following the death of a man who was shot and killed inside his vehicle.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.

“The driver’s window was shattered by multiple gunshots. The 49-year-old was killed instantly. Three 9mm cartridges were found at the back of the bakkie and two were found inside,” said Captain Nyathi.

The suspects are still at large.
