Police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi said that Estcourt police were called to Rensburg at about 7pm on July 17 to attend to reports of the rape.

“It is alleged that the 14-year-old victim was on the way to a local tuck shop when a male person who is well-known to her, stopped her and her friend. They were taken by force to the suspect’s house, where the rape was committed. The suspect locked the pair of friends inside the house. He left them there and came back in the morning when he released them to go home,” explained Captain Nyathi.

A case of rape is being investigated. Police are seeking witnesses who can call toll-free number 08600 10111 or their nearest police station to provide further information to aid the investigation.
