Wear a mask or pay a hefty fine warn police

You will be fined by police for not wearing a mask in public

R1500. That’s what it will cost those in Dundee who continue to defy government regulations that have made wearing a face mask in public compulsory.

Dundee SAPS spokesperson Captain V Mbense said that a fine of R1500 could be issued, or even jail time imposed by a court.

This follows the announcement by Minister of Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma that all citizens should take reasonable measures to ensure that masks are worn.

The warning from Dundee SAPS comes in the wake of the rising number of Covid-19 infections in the district.
