Farm attack thwarted

The attack sparked swift action from the SAPS and farmers

Dundee SAPS have been taken at least four men into custody following an attack on a farm in the De Jagersdrift area this afternoon.

SAPS said a group of men and at least one woman arrived at the farm, Eersteling, in at least three vehicles on the pretext of being Government officials.

Once they were in the house, one of the men pulled a firearm on the farmer and struck him on the hand.

The alarm was immediately raised and the group fled – leaving the bakkie behind and driving off in the second vehicle.

Farmers and SAPS were alerted and the vehicle, a BMW, was pulled over in the vicinity of Battlefields Country Lodge and four people arrested.

SAPS said they could not confirm reports that one person had been shot and injured during the incident.

An investigation is continuing and more details will be released when these become available.
