A tree and what remains of broken water pipes litter President Street after uThukela finished repairing a leak. The repair job was done almost a week ago and workers have since returned to refill the hole.

But after filling the hole, they left behind the remains of a tree lying in the road, which is a danger to passing traffic.

The big question is: Why fill the hole and not take the rubble left behind?
