Bakkie recovered minutes after being stolen

Car thieves have targeted the Boulevard Centre in recent months

Swift police action again resulted in the arrest of two men and the recovery of a bakkie stolen from the Dundee Boulevard Centre.

SAPS received an alert that a white Nissan bakkie had been stolen from the Centre, the details of which were circulated.
Sgt Joey Kalicharan and other officers reacted and spotted the van on McKenzie Street.

A brief chase ensured which saw the van driver being pulled over on Bulwer Street.

The man was taken into custody. Later, another man was apprehended.
It is understood that the van had been stolen after ‘an order had been put in by a syndicate’.

SAPS said the thief appeared to have used a key to open the door and start the car.
