Stage 2 load-shedding set to continue in Ladysmith…
Due to severe constraints on the power generation system

Eskom is set to implement Stage 2 load-shedding today (August 19).
Eskom says this is due to severe constraints on the power generation system.
Despite a drop in demand due to the Covid-19 lockdown, Eskom has implemented three rounds of load-shedding since early March.
“On Monday, August 17, six generators were returned to service at Medupi, Tutuka, Kendal, Majuba and Grootvlei power station. The breakdown of four units overnight and on the morning of August 18 at Medupi, Duvha, Amajuba and Lethabo power stations, as well as a delay in the expected return to service of a unit at Medupi, has resulted in the power system being constrained.
Any further deterioration in the generation performance may therefore necessitate the escalation of load-shedding at short notice,” says Eskom.

People are urged to use electricity sparingly in order to help Eskom reduce the instances of load shedding and keep the lights on.
