For many young girls, their matric ball is a night they dream about for years… Dressing up, feeling beautiful and confident, taking photos with friends and celebrating an important milestone in their lives.

But for some learners, the cost of a dress, shoes and accessories can make that dream difficult to achieve.

Former Ladysmith High School pupil wants to help

Former Ladysmith High School (LHS) pupil Ashmika Singh knows how special a matric farewell can be and is hoping to give one deserving girl the opportunity to experience it without worrying about what she can or cannot afford.

Singh is searching for a deserving matric learner who needs a little help with her matric ball attire.

Her motivation is simple: She wants a young girl to walk into her matric ball feeling on top of the world!

A dress, shoes and a little sparkle

Singh has a medium-sized matric farewell dress and wants to pass it on to someone who truly needs it.

She also has a pair of size 4 shoes and jewellery to complete the special outfit.

What may seem like simple items to some can mean the world to a young girl who may otherwise not have the opportunity to dress up for this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

“Every girl deserves to feel beautiful”

Singh says her wish is to help create a memory that the young lady will carry with her long after the music stops and the matric ball is over.

“Every girl deserves to feel beautiful, confident and special on such an important night. I’d love to help make her matric ball a beautiful memory she’ll cherish forever.”

For Singh, this is about far more than a dress. It’s about kindness, dignity and giving someone the chance to feel special during an important chapter of her life.

A small act of kindness can make a big difference

She hopes the community can help her find the right learner; a girl who is deserving and who would genuinely benefit from this gesture.
