WATCH: Female law enforcers clamp down during ‘Operation Basadi’
Operation Basadi targets transgressors of the law, while simultaneously highlighting the power of women in unity.

Operation Basadi officially kicked off early this morning (August 20) at the Newcastle SAPS building on York Street.
Combining the efforts of female law enforcement officials from traffic, police, correctional services, SANDF, the Department of Health and several other stakeholders from across the Amajuba District, three convoys were deployed to strategic points to perform roadblock duties.

At the briefing, Brigadier Fred Alexander (Amajuba District Commander of Visible Policing) explained the aim of Operation Basadi and encouraged the female law enforcers in attendance to stand up and be counted.
“Today you will be looking for transgressions to the law, including those who flout Government’s Covid-19 regulations. I urge you all to be safe while performing your duties and know you have the support of all your team,” he said.
Three teams headed to the N11/Ingogo intersection, the R34 Memel Road and the R34/R33 Blood River intersection.
