Three men were arrested late yesterday, (Friday) thanks to a speedy response by security officials, SAPS and local farmers.
The men had a fled from Utrecht where they had committed two murders and one attempted murder. They drove off towards the Dundee area and were spotted by Dundee SAPS and local farmers near Helpmekaar, SAPS said.
The men then abandoned the vehicle, opened fire on police and farmers and fled on foot. Support was called in and the men were surrounded and eventually apprehended. One of the men evaded arrest though. Two of the men are believed to have been wounded in a shoot out with SAPS and security officials.
The three arrested were found in possession of three AK47 rifles and ammunition.
