DUNDEE: Protesters block roads

Motorists should avoid the area

Both Watt and Commercial Roads have been closed by protesters this morning.

Tree branches, burning tyres and other obstacles have been placed on the roads, blocking access to the Avon Industrial area and Pomeroy/Helpmekaar. SAPS and traffic officials are on the scene.

They say an alternative route is towards Sibongile, left at the park at the entrance to Sibongile and on to the gravel road, to Newton Road.

It is understood that the protest is housing related in Forestdale and has been ongoing for some weeks.
