A man was stabbed several times after an altercation with a car guard on Gladstone Street opposite Dundee Dry Cleaners.

Witnesses said it appeared as if there had been an initial quarrel between the car guard and another man at the Sibongile hostel. At about 1pm yesterday, a man ran towards the car guard, holding a panga,a knife and a hammer.

A scuffle ensured during which the assailant was stabbed several times in Elite Cash Loans.
Staff who initially managed to take away the weapons from the man were left traumatised.

SAPS and security officials arrived on the scene. The injured man was taken to hospital and the car guard to the police station. More details will be published when these become available.
