DUNDEE KZN: Shots fired as SAPS, security officials round up suspects hiding out in overgrown plot

Pedestrians rushed for cover as the action unfolded

Shots were fired and a policeman from the Glencoe Dog Unit injured this afternoon when SAPS and security officers chased down a gang of young men, believed to be linked to an earlier robbery at Pep Stores, to an overgrown plot on Beaconsfield Street.

The policeman was injured in the leg. SAPS took about 12 young men into custody for questioning. All of them were found hiding in the overgrown plot opposite the Eventide Home.

Neighbours said the area is used by ‘drug mules and often stolen goods are kept in the long grass’.
