MOOI RIVER KZN: Dissatisfied residents take their grievances to the street

The protestors are dissatisfied about the level of service delivery from Mpofana Municipality as well as the recruitment process for jobs within the municipality

The R622 between Mooi River and Greytown was closed this morning (March 5) as protesting residents from neighbouring Bruntville and Mooi River took their grievances to the street.

Burning tyres and debris littered the road from about 6am, causing an obstruction to passing motorists before the road was closed.

According to a resident, the protestors are dissatisfied about the level of service delivery from Mpofana Municipality as well as the recruitment process for jobs within the municipality.

“Jobs were advertised but the municipality took people from out of town,” said the resident.

Police and traffic officers on scene dispersed the protestors and the road was reopened later.
