DUNDEE KZN: IFP candidate confident ahead of by-election
The by-election for Ward 2 will take place tomorrow following the tragic passing of former councillor, Thulani Mahaye.
The IFP’s Ward 2 candidate in Endumeni, Ukhona Zwakele Robin Kubheka, is confident that the party can bring about change, come the by-elections.
The by-election for Ward 2 will take place tomorrow following the tragic passing of former councillor, Thulani Mahaye.
The IFP, ANC and EFF will contest the ward. Speaking to the Courier ahead of the vote, Ukhona said he planned to focus on the economy and employment levels, especially among the youth, if elected. He also wants to get to the bottom of many unanswered issues raised over the years at the municipality.
“Endumeni Local Municipality is a beautiful home with a diverse society. But there are problems and we all know it. What we decided to do with these problems is entirely up to us as a community. I strongly believe it is within our power to fix theses problem; only if we are willing to do the right thing and vote for change,” he said.
“For more than 26 years we have heard the slogan, ‘together we can do more’; while those doing the talking are doing more by stealing more for their friends and family. It’s time for a government that walks the talk,” he added.
In his election manifesto, Ukhona also touch on safety and security, health and social welfare as well as good governance as areas that needed focusing on.
“The IFP is still saying ‘Trust Us’ because we are still the party that you can trust. This promise is backed up by more than 45 years of consistent and value based leadership. We know how to make it work.
“So trust us and join us as we pursue social justice for all. Join us as we work for a growing economy at Endumeni, a safe environment for our children and investors, a healthy society and good governance. It’s time for change.”
