ESTCOURT KZN: Relief as water flows after five days

Heavy duty generators have been installed at the Wagendrift raw water pump station

After a long and waterless five days, several households and businesses in Estcourt and surrounding areas, finally have the essential source.

Two heavy duty generators have been installed at the Wagendrift raw water pump station, where an electric fault was discovered on Tuesday (June 1), ending the dry spell.

These generators that will supply 900kw power to supply water to the affected communities were installed at 2pm yesterday (June 5).

“By 2.30pm, we started pumping water from Wagendrift to George Cross. Some areas within Estcourt town started receiving water around 6pm. At 3am, we started running three pumps to Wembezi. Currently we are still filling up Wembezi Reservoir and the High Tower Reservoir in Drakensview,” commented uThukela District Municipality communication manager Jabulani Mkhonza.
