Sadly, two people lost their lives this morning (July 9) in a horror crash on the Helpmekaar Road.

A Toyota Corolla and a Hilux bakkie collided head-on in the St Chad’s area.

Two people were declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel, with one other person being treated for injuries sustained before being rushed to hospital.

The jaws-of-life had to be used to free a passenger from the mangled wreckage.

Aside from emergency personnel, Public Safety and police also responded to the scene.

Motorists travelling past did so with caution, and many community members who gathered at the scene were left reeling in shock after the tragic crash.
