Ladysmith KZN: Can illegal immigrants go for their Covid-19 vaccine?
Illegal immigrants are able to receive a jab or test for Covid-19, simply by using their date of birth

Since the third wave of the global Covid-19 pandemic hit South Africa, Ladysmith residents who are eligible to receive their Covid-19 vaccines have been lining up at the various vaccination centres in town.
But what of illegal immigrants? Are these people also eligible to receive a ‘jab’ to protect them from the virus?
According to Ladysmith Provincial Hospital PRO Thabo Sithole, people who have valid South African identity documents can register online and will be able to receive their vaccine.
Illegal immigrants, as well as South Africans who do not have their Identity Documents in order, are also able to test for Covid-19 and receive a jab, simply by using their date of birth.Â
It seems that if you are 50 and older, whether legal or illegal, you can go for your vaccine!

Mr Sithole says they have not had a case in which an illegal immigrant has come in for testing or for a Covid-19 vaccine.Â
