NEWCASTLE KZN: Municipality commits to recycling with new bins around town

The Newcastle Municipality invites all citizens to take part in the town's waste recycling drive.

The Newcastle Municipality has installed recycling bins across town as part of its efforts to clean up the streets and prevent unneeded rubbish from ending up in landfills.

A representative said that Igloo Recycling bins had been strategically placed at the Newcastle Mall, Farmers Hall, and the Newcastle dumpsite:

“This is part of a bigger effort to reduce how much waste ends up in landfills. In the long run, these good waste management methods will help promote an environmentally friendly environment,” said the municipality in a post on social media.

The Igloo recycling containers are colour-coded to guarantee that waste separation was a painless process.

The recycling bins are labelled as follows:

  • Yellow bin – Plastic
  • Blue bin – Cardboard
  • Green bin – Glass bottles.

“The Newcastle Municipality invites all citizens to take part in the town’s waste recycling drive. Please be advised that the bins will be emptied twice a week.”
