Water being held back at Qedusizi Dam

The dam is doing its job by holding back the water flowing from the catchment area

Tons of water is currently being held back by Qedusizi Dam.

At 15:00, when the water level measurement was taken at Qedusizi Dam, it was at the 8.5-metre mark.

This means that the dam is doing its job by holding back the masses of water flowing from the catchment area.

The level of the Klip River has also increased and in some parts of town, water has gone over the riverbanks.

Motorists are urged to stay away from the flooded areas of town, including the low-lying streets in the CBD.

People are also urged not to cross bridges and roads that are flooded.
