King Misuzulu kaZwelithini was in Newcastle this weekend, to attend the umembeso ceremony for his future wife, Ntokozo Mayisela.

The traditional ceremony took place at Mayisela’s residence in Blaauwbosch and forms part of the lobola ceremony in Zulu tradition, where the families exchange gifts to conclude lobola negotiations.

This was followed by a grand gala dinner in Newcastle, where friends and family of the bride and groom wished them well in their nuptials.
