Police ‘take down’ suspected drug dealer

An assortment of drugs was confiscated from the spaza shop

With help from the community, Bergville police were able to arrest a suspected drug dealer.

On Thursday, police received information that a man who was operating a spaza shop at the Bergville Taxi Rank was allegedly using the shop as a front to peddle drugs.

“Observations were set up and the man’s movements were monitored. It didn’t take police long to establish that he was indeed plying his trade,” remarked police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.

During a ‘takedown’ operation, police uncovered a stash of drugs which included 61 packets of dagga, 20 whoonga capsules, 19 packets of crystal meth, and a knife.
