Learners in the Lion’s Den to get their booster shots

Parents and guardians are reminded not to send their children to school if they are ill or showing symptoms.

Staff and students at Sarel Cilliers High School received their Covid-19 booster shots last week at Lion’s Den.
Thank you to the nurses and staff from the Health Department who came to assist with administering the vaccinations.
We, at Sarel Cilliers, continue to fight against the epidemic.
Parents and guardians, please be reminded not to send your child to school if they are ill or showing symptoms.
Grade 11 learners attended a Moot Court training session in Ladysmith recently. Members of the Human Rights Commission and Basic Education Justice & Constitutional Development team, partnered with the National Schools Moot Court Competition, were on hand to help the children.
The legal team went over a hypothetical case and gave the learners some vital pointers on how to structure their entry essays.
It was a most informative session and the learners are very keen.
Sarel Cilliers thanks Mrs Mchunu from the Education Department for her support and guidance.
The learners are wished all the best for this endeavour.
Pupils also travelled to Newcastle to play sport against Ferrum High School in freezing-cold rainy weather.
The players braved it on the field and played valiantly, but the opposition proved to be the stronger players on the day.
The results were as follows:
Netball:
U/14 3-19, U/15 8-20, U/16 14-24, second team 15-11, first team 9-24, U/14 B team 8-11, U/15 B team 1-6, U/16 B team 6-17.
Hockey:
First team girls 1-9, U/16 A 1-6, junior boys 1-7, first team boys 0-1, second team boys 0-2, second team girls 0-5.
Rugby:
U/14 A 20-29, second team 41-0, U/15 A 5-31, U/16 A 7-25, first team 0-36.
The chess team was defeated 1-11.
Sarel Cilliers will be hosting ‘Entertainment Talent Night’ on Thursday (May 26) in the school hall. Tickets are available at the office.
Please come and join us for a very entertaining evening where the students will be displaying a variety of talents.
It is guaranteed to be a most enjoyable evening.
