Sabelo Mbatha is often regarded as a nuisance by motorists, as he stands at the Victoria Road traffic lights begging for change. To the staff of the Amajuba Mall however, he is a hero.
Sabelo, who is homeless, assisted mall security in locating and apprehending four shoplifters. The suspects stole R7 000 in merchandise from Pick n Pay Clothing last Monday (May 23).
According to the mall’s Centre Manager, Robbie Matthee, the suspects were caught in the act but managed to flee with their loot.
We yelled for the public’s assistance in apprehending these criminals. Regrettably, no one offered assistance. However, this young gentleman put himself in danger by running after them, catching one and handing him over to security,” explained Matthee.
