The Oval Restaurant fire scare
Apart from some structural damage to the roof, no one was injured.
The popular local Oval Restaurant experienced a fire breakout early Wednesday evening. Early indications are that the fire broke out in the ceiling above the fireplace in the restaurant.
Alert and speedy reaction from staff and the on-site security guards who noticed smoke coming from the roof, evacuated all guests and staff, and contacted the local fire brigade and SAPS. The speedy and competent response by the fire brigade successfully extinguished the fire.
Apart from some structural damage to the roof, no one was injured.
The incident has not affected the BnB accommodation section in any way , and management indicated that repairs to reinstate the restaurant will begin as soon as the necessary formalities has been attended to.

Staff has since cleared most of the rubble and re-arranged seating for guests on the patio , enabling the restaurant to function normally .
