Season ends with tournament success for Sarel Cilliers teams

Wittenberg was a great sporting finale for the term, with many of the teams gaining valuable game time and experience, especially the younger teams.

Sarel Cilliers’ sports teams left for a weekend of rugby, hockey and netball at Wittenberg High School, to play Super 7s rugby and Fast 5 netball.
Leaving on Friday and staying over, it was a busy weekend, with some of the hockey teams playing as many as 17 matches and the netball teams 11 games in total.
The netball scores were as follows: first team Sarel vs Trio B won 18-11, vs Ben V B lost 12-20, vs Trio A lost 10-18, vs New Horizon won 28-22, vs Landboudal lost 12-22, vs Wittenberg A lost 8-20, vs Ben Vorster A lost 8-22, vs Wittenberg B won 20-8, vs Landboudal lost 12-20.
The netball teams played a total of 11 matches over the weekend, against some very strong opposition.
The first rugby team lost to Voortrekker Bethlehem 12-40, lost 19-21 to Goudveld, won 45-7 against Kestel, won 47-0 against New Horizon and went through to the semi-finals, where they drew 14-14 against Trio.
Trio won because they scored the first try. Well done to the Blue Lions for putting up such a good fight. The U/17-B team lost against Vryheid High School 7-17, won 21-10 against Amajuba High School and lost 12-17 to Pioneer.
The U/17-A rugby team were the stars of the weekend. They played against Pongola and won 68-0, defeated Salt Rock 43-5, won 60-0 against Vryheid High 2, and won 18-9 against Wittenberg B to go through to the semi-finals against Ferrum High School, where they won 45-12, continuing to the cup final against Vryheid High School, where they triumphed 29-12 to win their section.
The U/15 rugby team played well and got through to the Bowl final to lose 7-12 to Ferrum High School, to come fourth in their age group.
