These weather conditions are expected to bring heavy showers, strong damaging winds, and excessive lightning to various regions.
The suspected affected areas will most likely be Durban, Richards Bay, Estcourt, Kokstad, Mooi River, Pietermaritzburg, Newcastle, and coastal areas.
SAWS further warned of possible localized flooding of low-lying bridges, damage to mud-based houses, mudslides, and soil erosion.
Residents in vulnerable areas are asked to stay informed, exercise caution, and take essential precautions to protect themselves and their property as severe thunderstorms roll through KwaZulu-Natal.
Motorists are warned to expect difficult driving conditions, especially on dirt roads. Accidents are possible due to poor visibility and slippery roads and are urged to proceed caution.
