Amajuba District SAPS conduct Christmas drive to support vulnerable groups
In the spirit of Christmas and a continued commitment to community welfare, the Amajuba District SAPS successfully carried out a two-day Christmas drive.

The drive was aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and raising awareness about critical social issues, including gender-based violence and femicide.
The initiative was part of the District’s broader social crime prevention program.
The drive kicked off on Monday, December 23, when Amajuba District Commissioner, Major General Frederick Alexander, visited Masondeza, Madadeni, where he personally oversaw the distribution of 150 food parcels to elderly residents from disadvantaged backgrounds.
This gesture of goodwill was aimed at easing the burden of those who often face significant hardships during the festive season.
On Christmas, Major General Alexander continued the drive in Lennoxton, where he provided food parcels to 30 community members from vulnerable groups.
The initiative was part of an ongoing effort by the Amajuba District SAPS to address the needs of those who may otherwise go unnoticed or unsupported during the holiday period.
Ali Hoosen, representing the Newcastle Community Policing Forum (CPF) in Ward 3, Sector 2, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the community, thanking the Newcastle SAPS, Brigadier Vassie Naidoo, Major-General Alexander, and the Newcastle Chinese CPF for their contributions. Hoosen acknowledged the ‘significant impact of the hampers’ and commended the efforts made by all involved in making the event a success.
The Christmas drive concluded in Kwamathukuza, where Major General Alexander handed out 20 additional food parcels to elderly residents from the local community, ensuring that those in need across various areas of the district were supported during the festive season.
Through these meaningful actions, the Amajuba District SAPS demonstrated its on-going commitment to both addressing the immediate needs of vulnerable groups and raising awareness of social issues that continue to affect the region, particularly during a time traditionally associated with family, community, and togetherness.
