Proud moments as learners get their matric results

The Zululand District matric class of 2024 did very well, with a pass rate of 89.5%, tied with Ilembe District.

It is a proud moment for the province of KwaZulu-Natal, as they obtained second position in the country with a matric pass rate of 89.5%. This represent a 3.1% improvement on the previous year’s results.

AbaQulusi Local Municipality schools rejoiced as they received their results. Vryheid High School obtained 95.5%, while Vryheid Comprehensive got 94.6%. Hoërskool Pionier, Inkamana and Landbou soared at 100%. Kwabanya obtained 98%, Filidi High School 97%, and Impofini  High School saw an increase from 59% in 2022 to 88.2% in 2023 and a whopping 91% in the 2024 NCS matric results. Khetholo High School moved from 90.9% to a perfect 100%, while Isolomuzi Secondary School obtained 94.6% and Khondlo Secondary 91.4%.

AbaQulusi Mayor Sifiso Mkwanazi extended his congratulations to the class of 2024 and also said, “To those who did not make it, remember there are many paths to success and sometimes setbacks can lead to even greater opportunities.”
Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube announced the National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examination results last week Monday, citing that the matric class of 2024 had their own fair share of challenges – from the Covid-19 pandemic to the different social ills that learners continually face at schools, such as violence and gangsterism. “Despite these challenges, we have seen the highest rate of learners enrolled for Grade 12 in the year 2024. We are proud of the class of 2024, as they have worked well in hardship.”
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli, who announced the 2024 matric results at a ceremony in Durban, offered words of encouragement to the learners who did not make it, highlighting the department’s Second Chances Programme. “Success is not measured by how many times you fall, but by how many times you rise. Never give up. You are our future in the making. Grab every opportunity with both hands. KwaZulu-Natal is counting on you to make our province a better place for all,” he said.
