Newcastle Boschpick Highlanders dominate in friendly against Ladysmith Black Jaguars
The Newcastle Boschpick Highlanders delivered a commanding performance in their friendly rugby match against the Ladysmith Black Jaguars on Saturday afternoon (March 22) played at the Arbor Park Sports Grounds.

Despite the long weekend, Highlanders head coach Andrè ‘Swanie’ Swanepoel praised both teams for their commitment, especially Ladysmith for making the journey to Newcastle.
“This shows our sportsmen have an impressive positive attitude towards the sport,” said Coach Swanepoel.
By halftime, the Highlanders had secured a dominant 30-0 lead and continued their momentum in the second half, ultimately securing a resounding 65-12 victory.
“The second half of the match was rather scrappy for us, but what we gained was a solid run. Our lineouts were good, but the rest was quite ‘scrappy’,” noted Swanepoel.
Key players included Minnie (13), who kept the Black Jaguars on the back foot with his attacking play, and his centre partner, Gift (12), who remained steadfast in both attack and defence.
Among the forwards, Giraffe (8) stood out with an exceptional performance, while DJ (7) impressed with his strong carries.
A notable highlight was the return of Christiaan (1) to the field after a year-and-a-half-long injury recovery, leaving spectators thoroughly impressed.
Highlanders captain Henk Booysen remained a solid and reliable presence for his team.
