Brrrr Cold spell with rain and snow expected from Wednesday

Get ready for a tough cold spell.

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of very cold weather conditions expected to start on Wednesday (May 21) this week.

Areas likely to be affected are the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Free State and Lesotho, which all have a possibility of snow. Some areas could even experience heavy snowfall.

For the rest of South Africa, cold and miserable weather is expected, with a very small chance of snow on high ground.
