BREAKING: Man found murdered in Schuinshoogte workshop

Police are investigating a case of murder after a man was found dead in his workshop on Thursday evening.

UPDATE: Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer, SAC Lizzy Arumugam has confirmed that a case of murder has been opened and is currently being investigated.

The Schuinshoogte community has been left in shock, following the murder of a man whose body was found in his workshop last night (Thursday, July 31).

According to Mornè Potgieter of Ithemba Security, officers were dispatched to the house —where the man lived and operated his workshop—at approximately 21:00.

“Upon arrival, officers found the man’s lifeless body inside the workshop,” confirmed Potgieter.

Upon further investigation, Potgieter said a hammer, believed to be the murder weapon, was found in a bedroom in the victim’s home.

He could not confirm a motive for the murder and said it would remain subject to further police investigations.

Newcastle Police Communications Officer Constable Langa confirmed the murder but is yet to issue the Newcastle Advertiser with an official statement.

The Newcastle Advertiser extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
