Retired men gather to share wisdom and fellowship

Retired men from Newcastle’s Izingwevu Club meet monthly to share wisdom, discuss health and enjoy fellowship at their Grey Goose gathering.

Laughter and lively conversation filled the air as members of the Senior Citizens Club, fondly known as the Newcastle Izingwevu Club, gathered for their monthly meeting at Grey Goose on Tuesday, October 7.

The club, which boasts 62 members, is made up entirely of men — all retirees from professions such as education, health, agriculture, insurance, the SAPS, and social development.

The monthly get-together serves as a time for fellowship, reflection and camaraderie among Newcastle’s senior community members, who continue to share wisdom and friendship long after retirement.

Topics affecting retirees, such as investments, prostate cancer, labola negotiations, the Road Accident Fund, retirement homes, health awareness, and diet were discussed, led by lawyers, doctors, dieticians, and Department of Social Development officials.

Members enjoy breakfast, lunch, and value the fellowship and bonds forged during their time together.
