SANBS honours dedicated blood donors at awards evening

SANBS celebrated milestone blood donors in Newcastle, recognising their life-saving commitment.

Unselfish and dedicated blood donors were honoured for their continued commitment to saving lives during the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) Blood Donor Awards evening at Blackrock Casino on Friday evening (July 3).

Milestone donors received VIP treatment in recognition of their invaluable contribution to helping save lives.

Milestone donors recognised

Programme director Khulekani Zuma kept guests entertained throughout the evening, while Neelashan Govender delivered the welcome address.

This was followed by the committee chairperson’s address by Siyabonga Khumalo.

The highlight of the evening was the donor awards ceremony, which recognised donors who had reached their 50th, 75th, 100th, 125th, 175th and 200th donation milestones.

Willem Pieterse received a special round of applause after it was revealed that he had made more than 200 blood donations.

Community encouraged to donate

The evening concluded with a delicious three-course buffet and an opportunity for guests to socialise.
