Excitement builds for Umzinyathi cricket league finals on Saturday

Molls will now face Paki Lions in the Saturday 30 overs final Jihadees will play Paki Lions in the T20 Final.

Excitement is building for the finals of the Umzinyathi cricket league to be played at the Oval on Saturday from 2pm.

Last week’s sem-finals were concluded last weekend. In the first T20 semi-final, Paki Lions took on Farmers.

Paki Lions won the toss and elected to bat and made 126 for 6 in their 20 overs. Nathaniel Benjamin top scored with 60 runs from 40 balls which included 7 x 4’s and 1 x 6. Kamran Hanif chipped in with 33 from 55 balls. The best of the Farmers’ bowlers were Tinnie Mentz, 1/11, and Stuart Talanda, 1 /13. Farmers were soon in trouble at 29 for 3 but managed to score 115 for 8 in their 20 overs with Roger Flanagan top scoring for them with 32 runs off 28 balls which included 1 x 6. Paki Lions thus won by 11 runs.

T20 Semi-finals – 2

Jihadees vs Ace Eagles

Jihadees won the toss and elected to bat. Good bowling restricted them to 95 all out. Siaf Abdullah top scored with 32 from 34 balls which included 4 x 4’s and Aeza Bhobat chipped in with a quickfire 16. Ashraf Baber was the chief destroyer with 5 wickets for 15.

The Ace Eagles run chase got off to a disastrous start with 6 batsmen back in the hut with only 28 runs on board. Only Asad Parchbahi fought back with 40 runs off 25 balls which included 3 x 4’s and 3 x 6’s. Captain, Labbeb Adam, was on fire for the Jihadees team returning figures of 5 for 13. Jihadees won by 12 runs and will now play Paki Lions in the T20 Final.

Saturday 30 Overs Semi Finals – 1

Tigers vs Paki Lions

Tigers won the toss but only managed to make 51 all out. Peter Pypers with 4 wickets and Ashfaq Mohammed and Ali Khan, with 3 wickets apiece, tore through the Tigers batting lineup. Paki Lions easily matched their score in just 10 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Saturday 30 Overs Semi Finals – 2

Molls vs Dannhauser United

Molls won the toss and elected to bat. Molls made 180 all out with Altus Annadale top scoring with 59 runs which included 9 x 4s while Handro van Zyl added 34 runs to the total. Sikander Amod was the best bowler for Dannhauser United with 3 wickets, while Tevin Maharj and Tishen Narothum grabbed 2 wickets a piece. Dannhauser United could only muster 90 runs for 10 wickets in their chase. Hanro van Zyl and Dian Bierbaum took 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Molls will now face Paki Lions in the Saturday 30 overs final.
